So how do I check if my website is indexed by search engines?

The easiest way to do this is to search site:yourdomain.com in Google.

If your website is successfully indexed and crawled by Google, you’ll receive a list of results that highlight the indexed pages of your website like the screenshot below:

And if your site isn’t yet indexed by Google, you won’t see any results at all, similar to this screenshot below:
