One of the more common misconceptions about SSL certificate is that SSL tends to slow down a website.
This is not quite true.
Although SSL encryption and decryption takes up time, but it is minute compared to the length of time needed for traffic to travel across the Internet from source (e.g. web server) to destination (e.g your computer browser), and time taken for any other processes needed (e.g. web page processing by the web server, virus scanning before a web page is presented on your web browser).
